How Do I Get Started with a Nursing Agency?

Commencing work with a nursing recruitment agency can feel daunting, but it doesn’t need to be. Registered Nurse (RN) Requirements:
- Completed a Nursing and Degree at University, or completed a skill equivalent course internationally
- Over 12 months experience in a clinical hospital setting (or Australian equivalent overseas facility)
- For graduate nurses: A minimum of 6 months experience is required. Contact VNS via email here or call 0398987000 to discuss your work options and suitability
- Current registration with AHPRA
- Available to travel to both Metro Melbourne & Regional Victoria
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- You must have a current national police check or be prepared to obtain one as a condition of employment
- Full immunisation history (including both COVID-19 vaccinations)
- Working with Children Check (WWCC) (if relevant - guidance will be given by VNS Nursing Agency)
- Updated resume and details of two professional referees
Registered Midwife (RM) Requirements:
- Completed a Midwifery Degree at University, or completed a skill equivalent course internationally
- Over 12 months experience in a clinical hospital setting (or Australian equivalent overseas facility)
- Current Registration with AHPRA
- Must have availability to work full-time hours
- Willing to travel to the South-Eastern part of Victoria
- Experience in areas such as post-natal, antenatal, birth suite
- Experience with breastfeeding, postnatal care, antenatal care, birth suite care
- Experience with providing midwifery care in all cases - counselling / support
- Liaising with all necessary teams to ensure a smooth process
- Updated resume and details of two professional referees
- Valid WWCC
Enrolled Nurse Requirements:
- Minimum of 12 months of acute and sub-acute (aged care etc) experience to be eligible
- Completed 18 month or 2-year VET qualification to obtain a diploma in Enrolled Nursing
- Willing and able to travel to both Metro Melbourne & Regional Victoria
- Must have a current national police check or be prepared to obtain one as a condition of employment
- Full immunisation history (including both COVID-19 vaccinations)
- Current AHPRA registration
- Updated resume and details of two professional referees
Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Requirements:
- Completed a qualification in Health Assistance. Certificate III is the minimum qualification level and includes work placement consisting of around 120 hours or complete a qualification in Health Assistance, including the mandatory 120 hours of work placement training.
- 6-12 months paid work experience
- Updated resume with two professional references
- WWCC and National Police Check obtained within last 6 months
International Registered Nurses and / or Midwives
For international registered nurses and midwives, you must have working rights in Australia as documented on your visa. You must also undertake a skill assessment to ensure your qualifications obtained internationally are transferable.
